Gardening in Haliburton County
The Haliburton Master Gardeners and the University of Guelph are pleased to offer the heritage apple project in the spring and summer of 2022. This project will give an insight into heritage apple trees and will begin to identify and inventory heritage apple trees in Haliburton County. It will also give participants the opportunity to have their apple trees DNA tested at the University of Guelph. The initial information session will include a short history of apples; how to differentiate between heritage and feral trees; and procedures for having trees tested. Information sessions are free for all, DNA testing $25.00 per tree (testing kits available at workshop).
