QUESTIONS:

Haliburton County Master Gardeners is a volunteer organization that provides horticultural advice specific to the Haliburton and surrounding regions (Zone 4). We are happy to answer questions through our Ask A Master Gardener page, or for more in depth advice, we will visit your property through our Consultation Request Form.

The Coordinator: Maureen Moore

Leadership and Community Connection

The Coordinator serves as the primary leader and public face of our local group. Tasked with ensuring the organization runs smoothly, the Coordinator chairs our meetings, oversees the development of local policies, and manages our diverse slate of volunteer activities. Beyond internal management, they act as the vital communication link between our local members and the provincial Board of Directors. Whether arranging interviews for new volunteers or guiding Master Gardeners in Training toward certification, the Coordinator’s role is to inspire excellence in horticultural education and community service.

The Treasurer: Shelley Fellows

Financial Stewardship and Integrity

The Treasurer is the custodian of the organization’s financial health and integrity. Responsible for all aspects of financial management, they track our revenue—including grants, donations, and plant sales—and ensure all expenses are properly documented. The Treasurer prepares the annual budget and detailed financial reports, ensuring our resources are used effectively to support our educational mission. Their work provides the transparency and accountability necessary to maintain our standing as a trusted non-profit entity within the community.

The Secretary: Ruthie Cummings

Documentation and Transparency

The Secretary is the official custodian of our corporate records and history. They are responsible for recording the minutes of all business meetings, ensuring that every decision and motion is accurately documented for the permanent record. In addition to managing the group's correspondence, the Secretary ensures that all members receive timely notice of meetings and that our records remain available and compliant with provincial and federal regulations. Through their diligent record-keeping, the Secretary protects the transparency and organizational continuity of our group.
