Haliburton County Master Gardeners
Gardening in Haliburton County
The Haliburton County Master Gardeners will be running workshops at the Minden Cultural Centre during the winter and spring on the care and maintenance, pruning, and grafting of apple trees.
This is a follow-up from our Heritage Apple Tree Project of the last two years.
On Saturday, May 4th, at 10 am will be a workshop on Grafting Apple Trees.
The full day grafting workshop will also have two sessions: the first part indoors and the second outside. You will learn the basics of grafting at this workshop: selecting rootstock and scions, techniques, and care of grafted trees. In the outdoor session, you will have an opportunity to try grafting a heritage variety apple scion onto a winter hardy rootstock under the guidance of a professional local Horticulturist, Jennell Bilodeau.
Cost $20 per participant plus the cost of scions and rootstock (to be determined & optional).
To register, call Lori Andersen at 1 (705) 828-2468. There will be a limit of 20 attendees per workshop, so you must register in advance.
