David Suzuki Foundation “30 Years Since Rio” virtual event

6 June 2022 @ 7:00 pm - 8:15 pm

From Severn Cullis-Suzuki:

It’s been 30 years since the UN’s Earth Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 1992, where I addressed delegates. I was 12 years old, and my six-minute speech was recorded and shared around the world.

In preparation for the summit, my parents Tara Cullis and David Suzuki and their friends wrote The Declaration of Interdependence: A Pledge to Planet Earth. It was integrated into conference outcomes, and expresses the David Suzuki Foundation’s fundamental values to this day.

The event will feature:

  • Reflections from me and my parents Tara Cullis and David Suzuki
  • An exclusive screening of Amka Film’s Only a Child, shortlisted for an Oscar
  • A panel discussion with inspirational young leaders, including Sadie Vipond, one of 15 La Rose v. Her Majesty the Queen climate plaintiffs
  • Jennifer Alicia, two-time national poetry slam champion and member of Seeds & Stardust Poetry Collective
  • Juno Award–winning musician Dan Mangan
  • Chief Gidansda Guujaaw, one of The Declaration of Interdependence co-writers

…and more!

Please join on Monday, June 6, from 7 to 8:15 p.m. Eastern to commemorate this anniversary, reflect on the past 30 years of activism and look ahead to the next 30.  Registration & more information are here.
